Click
here to listen to four minutes of actual radio transmissions
from our instructors to students.
Most racecars have radios, but Drivetech is one of the few
schools to give its students this valuable tool. Your instructor
uses a one-way radio to coach you and your classmates as you
drive. It's a lot like being in a race with a spotter giving
you guidance and telling you when it's safe to pass. At most
other schools and driving experiences there's no communication
or instruction while you drive.
VIDEO
LIBRARY
All
Drivetech cars have video cameras and recorders that tape
the driver's view of every lap. Here are a few clips from
Drivetech classes, some shot by those cameras and some by
spectators.. These are ordinary students in our regular classes,
with no leader, no passenger and no camera tricks. The videos
are presented in two quality settings. For those with dialup
connections, the file size and quality are reduced in order
to shorten the download time. For those with DSL or cable
connections, better quality is available under the "broadband"
heading.
We
suggest that you start by making a folder called "Drivetech."
Then right click on the video you want to watch, select "Save
target as" and save it to that folder. Then you'll be
able to watch the video again and again without waiting for
another download.
California
Speedway A true superspeedway. Two miles long,
with 14 degree banking.
"Pure
speed"
Lots
of schools make speed claims, but we don't think anyone goes
faster than what you'll see in the "Pure Speed" video.
Our students run the fastest laps at any school.
"Leaving
the pits"
Ride
along with a student as he leaves the pits at California Speedway.
You'll wish you were there.
USA
International Speedway Superspeedway looks, short
track thrills. This high-banked ¾ mile oval is first
rate in every respect.
"Hot
laps in car"
Unlike
the other videos presented here, this one is shot from inside
a car being driven by one of our instructors. The car is one
of our student racecars cars with no special preparation. In
fact, this was shot after students had been driving it all day.
Some of our cars have a passenger seat so we can give rides,
and there was one of our new graduates in the passenger seat.
The speed at the end of the straights is about 110mph and the
average speed is about 85mph
"USA
Intl"
Shots
beginning on the front straight and contuing through each corner.
"USA
Intl Front Straight "
Drivetech
classes look like a race.
Phoenix
International Raceway It's
called "The Jewel of the Desert." One mile, with
banks of nine degrees at one end, 11 degrees at the other.
"Side
by Side in-car"
Our
one and two-day classes usually incorporate side-by-side driving
and drafting. Here you'll ride along as the pack laps Phoenix
International Raceway.
"Phoenix
hot lap in-car"
Ride
along on a fast lap of this great oval.
Willow
Springs International Raceway
Challenging, fast, fun and safe. It's 2½ miles
long with two long straights and a big hill.
"In-car
Willow Springs"
Drivetech's
cars are great on road courses. Here's a lap of Willow Springs
seen from inside the car.
"View
from the hill"
This
video was shot from the top of the hill to give you a feel for
the track.
"Sony
commercial"
Sony
shot some footage to show off some of its consumer products
in Asia. The cars look great and they got some shots we could
never get on our own.
Pikes
Peak International Raceway
This one-mile oval is one of the most beautiful tracks
in the country, and a great place to drive.
"In-car
PPIR "
Ride
along with a student as he “reels in” and passes a slower
car, then drafts another student. It looks like a race, but
it's an entry-level class. All of these students are in the
cars by themselves, driving at their own pace. Most stock car
schools and driving experiences make you follow a leader or
carry a passenger and you can't do anything close to what's
on this video.
Teambuilding
"Blindfolded
Driver"
Using
a passenger car, a blindfolded driver must rely on the advice
of three backseat-driver teammates as he tries to make it through
a course of orange cones. Which team will figure out the best
way to communicate with the driver? Lots of lessons to be learned
here, and the most fun you can have at 5 mph.
"Tire
Changing Competition"
The
heart of a lightning fast pit stop is the tire change. We show
you the basics, then each team figures out the best way to be
fastest, but to get all the lug nuts tight too! The winning
team will have the best balance of speed and accuracy.
Special
Events
"PIR
Wedding"
A
day at Drivetech is a perfect setting for more than driving.
Birthdays, anniversaries and business meetings top the list,
but one couple even got married at Phoenix International Raceway.
